Used Foresight GC2 vs New Mevo Gen2: UK Ownership Checks

A used GC2 needs a stronger ownership case than a low asking price. Foresight Europe now identifies GC2 as end-of-life equipment, so repair and entitlement checks come before purchase. A new Mevo Gen2 offers a clearer current UK package, provided its radar layout suits your practice space.

The GC2 support notice changes the decision

Foresight Europe’s GC2 upgrade notice says the model has reached end of life and that spare-parts availability and repair lead times are significantly affected. This does not mean every working GC2 has stopped being useful. It means you should not value an unknown used unit as though parts and repairs were readily available on demand.

Before agreeing a purchase, ask the seller for the serial number, purchase history, service records, accessories and a demonstration of the exact unit. Then ask Foresight Europe what support, repairs and software arrangements apply to that serial. We have not contacted support about an individual device, obtained a repair estimate or verified a particular used offer.

Use the new Gen2 package as a defined benchmark

The official FlightScope UK Gen2 listing showed £1,199 including VAT on 13 September 2026, with 20 data parameters and an eight-course E6 Connect iOS/PC bundle. Optional Pro Package and Face Impact Location additions should be priced separately when needed. Check the current basket and supported device before treating that figure as the complete cost of your practice setup.

Write down the jobs both candidates must do: standalone range feedback, indoor gapping, simulation or sharing data with a coach. A used system with unwanted software and a new system missing a required paid feature are both poor comparisons. Our FlightScope guide explains the broader family; keep the invoice specific to Gen2.

Evidence needed before a used GC2 purchase
Question Useful evidence Reason to pause
Identity and history Serial, dated invoice and service record Seller cannot identify the exact unit
Operation Live demonstration of normal shots and supplied connections Only old screenshots or a promotional video
Repairability Current answer from Foresight Europe for that serial Required repair with no confirmed route or timescale
Software Named licence and written ownership/activation position Seller offers a login instead of confirmed entitlement
Total cost Device, accessories, software and any confirmed remedial work A low asking price hides essential missing items

Inspect the actual transaction, not the model’s reputation

Have the seller demonstrate startup, screen operation, charging and the functions you intend to use. Inspect the casing and supplied power equipment, and ask about battery condition, previous repairs and storage. A working display alone does not establish that every intended connection or shot-reading function operates. If you cannot inspect it, ask a specialist seller to document checks and the return arrangement.

Record exactly what is included. Photographs may show a computer or accessories that are not part of the sale. Treat historical accuracy claims, a past owner’s impressive setup and the original retail price as background, not evidence of this unit’s present condition. Decide how much downtime you can accept if it develops a fault.

Do not inherit a software assumption

Ask which account and licence will belong to you after completion, how activation happens, and what fees or restrictions apply. A seller’s installed software running on their laptop is not proof that you can activate it on yours. Newer Foresight ownership-transfer instructions may name different devices; do not automatically apply them to a GC2 transaction.

The launch-monitor subscription guide helps separate hardware ownership from software access. For this purchase, written confirmation for the exact serial and licence is more valuable than a general statement that “GC2 works with simulators”. Keep the correspondence and itemised sale description with your receipt.

When each route makes sense

Consider the GC2 only when its demonstrated functions meet your needs, the exact transaction is clear, and you accept the documented end-of-life support risk. Compare the used price with a realistic contingency, without inventing a standard repair allowance. Choose the new Gen2 route when the current package, support arrangement and room layout make ownership more predictable for you.

If indoor space is the reason for considering GC2, have the Gen2 radar layout checked before rejecting or buying it. The cheaper new unit is not automatically suitable for a shorter bay. Buy accessories only after identifying what the chosen package includes, and avoid generic chargers or unverified replacement parts.
