Start a FlightScope shortlist with the exact hardware generation and the data package. Mevo Gen2 and Mevo+ support portable practice and simulation, but their setup instructions, bundled software and optional analysis features need separate checks. “Mevo” alone is too broad a description for a buying decision.
For indoor use, the first decision is whether you can create the required rear radar space and ball flight. Then choose the data you actually need. Pro Package and Face Impact Location are separate additions, and current FlightScope guidance no longer makes Pro Package a prerequisite for Face Impact Location.

Choose Gen2 or Mevo+ using an exact package
FlightScope’s current material identifies Mevo Gen2 as a later model while retaining Mevo+ documentation and software support information. Compare a new Gen2 quotation with the actual Mevo+ package on offer, including its age, condition, included equipment and enabled upgrades.
Do not assume that a listing marked “Pro” refers to a different hardware generation. In this family, Pro Package names a software addition. Ask the seller to show the device identity and the active data fields so you know whether you are comparing hardware, an upgrade entitlement or both.
Measure limited-flight space model by model
The European FAQ gives Mevo Gen2 a minimum indoor arrangement of 2.4 metres behind the ball and 2.4 metres of ball flight. Its product page expresses that as 8 feet each side. The Mevo+ guidance separately recommends more ball flight for indoor full swings, so the two model instructions should not be collapsed into one universal room rule.
These distances still leave the golfer’s swing and the enclosure requirements to be assessed. Mark the sensor, tee and screen positions and account for objects between the radar and hitting point. Have a supplier review a tight room before relying on the smallest published spacing.
Include the ball and lighting in the setup
For limited flight, the Gen2 product page requires aluminium stickers or Titleist RCT balls for accurate spin measurement. That requirement belongs in the setup cost and routine. It should not be treated as an optional cosmetic accessory if indoor spin is a reason for the purchase.
FlightScope also states a minimum of 300 lux around the hitting location for Face Impact Location. That is a specific limitation of the camera-assisted analysis, even though radar does not need daylight in the same way. Check your actual lighting before selecting that add-on, and ask how to confirm suitable illumination in the intended room.
Buy the analysis feature that answers your question
Pro Package adds club-delivery information such as path and face relationships. Face Impact Location addresses where the ball contacts the clubface. Those are related coaching questions, but they are not the same measurement and do not need to be bought as an inseparable pair under the current manufacturer guidance.
Start with the question you and your coach want to resolve. If the issue is strike location, a detailed path dataset may not be the first extra you need. If the issue is delivery, a contact map alone will not explain everything. Ask for a demonstration of the relevant output and how it appears alongside the shot.
Confirm which application displays the data
FlightScope warns that third-party software may not display every Pro Package parameter. A simulator integration can work while exposing a different set of fields from the manufacturer’s practice application. Confirm the intended screen rather than assuming every compatible program shows the same analysis.
Check the current device requirements for the application you will run. A phone suitable for an older version is not automatically suitable for the current Gen2 workflow, and course-play software can require a different computer specification from a basic practice screen. Include these details in an itemised quotation.
Treat second-hand software rights separately
The European FAQ states that the E6 iOS bundle included with an original Mevo+ purchase is not transferable to a used buyer. A seller demonstrating those courses on their account therefore does not prove that you will receive them. Request explicit confirmation for each hardware-linked upgrade and each separate course licence.
Choose the package whose confirmed data, software rights and physical requirements fit your practice. A used Mevo+ can only be assessed against a Gen2 offer after those items are made comparable. Keep the comparison focused on the complete working setup, without assuming that a familiar model name carries all the software shown in an old advertisement.
