TaylorMade Qi4D REAX Shafts: Understanding the US Order Options

A REAX rotation label is not another name for shaft flex. When ordering a Qi4D driver, identify the rotation profile, weight class and flex separately, then record the installed playing length. Red, Blue and White organize a fitting trial; choosing a color from a swing-speed number alone leaves much of the decision unfinished.

Read the three parts of the REAX name

The official Qi4D page lists Mitsubishi REAX High Rotation Red, Mid Rotation Blue and Low Rotation White options. TaylorMade describes the profiles in relation to rotation through impact. Its selector treats flex as a separate choice, so “High Rotation” should not be translated into “stiff” or “for fast swings.”

What to copy from a REAX fitting recommendation
Field Example of the required detail Why it matters
Profile High Rotation Red, Mid Rotation Blue or Low Rotation White Identifies the intended profile
Weight class The number in the complete shaft name Avoids ordering a different weight option
Flex The actual marked flex Separate from rotation category
Build Playing length and any tipping instruction Identifies the assembled club, not just the shaft

Use the profile as a trial question

Ask the fitter what they observed and what they expect a change to help. It may concern how you deliver the club, the contact pattern or your ability to repeat the intended shot. You do not need to diagnose your release from a phone video before arranging the session.

Try the suggested profile with a suitable flex and weight. Then compare an alternative while keeping the head and target consistent. Describe what you feel in plain language: difficult to time, easy to rush, comfortable to swing or uncertain at the top. That feedback is more useful than borrowing another golfer’s technical explanation.

Do not let head adjustments hide the shaft comparison

Qi4D has its own head-setting choices. If the fitter changes those together with the shaft, write down both changes. The result may be a better driver, but you will need a return to the earlier configuration to understand whether the shaft is responsible.

Compare the whole group of normal shots. A single fast swing is not enough to justify a less comfortable build. Ask whether any improvement remains when you make your ordinary on-course swing rather than trying to impress the launch monitor.

Our shaft-weight guide explains why weight deserves its own question. Use the playing-length guide when the order form and fitter use different measurements.

Stock availability is a separate check

A shaft shown in a specification table is not a promise that every flex is ready to ship in every head. Ask the US seller to confirm the complete combination. If it is unavailable, compare the proposed substitute before accepting it; matching the word “regular” does not make two shafts equivalent.

Read the final quote for upgrades, custom assembly and delivery. If a retailer offers a discounted prebuilt driver, compare its exact shaft name with the fitting sheet. A lower price is only a saving if it buys the configuration you intended to use.

Check the delivered club before altering it

Match the shaft graphics, flex marking and finished length to the order. Keep the receipt and build sheet. If anything differs, ask the seller to resolve it before trimming, regripping or replacing components yourself.

REAX makes most sense as a structured starting point for fitting. The final question remains whether the complete driver gives you a repeatable useful result. If the standard shaft achieves that, an aftermarket upgrade is optional rather than an unfinished part of the purchase.
