Choose a PXG Xtreme Tour versus Tour X trial around your preferred flight and approach control. Tour is the softer, lower-flight option in PXG’s positioning; Tour X is firmer and higher flying with more spin. The ordinary US one-dozen product price is the same, so fit should lead.

The X changes the model, not just the label
PXG’s official introduction identifies both as three-piece urethane balls. The current Tour and Tour X pages retain the relative softer/lower-flight versus firmer/higher-flight distinction. This is the line introduced in 2024; a current listing does not make it a newly launched 2026 construction.
We have not measured a spin or distance advantage for either. Those relative manufacturer descriptions are a reason to compare the balls, not a substitute for a fitting. Do not import an X-model rule from another brand.
| Your question | Starting candidate | What still needs checking |
|---|---|---|
| Would a lower flight suit my normal shots? | Xtreme Tour | Enough carry and approach stopping margin |
| Could higher flight and more spin help approaches? | Xtreme Tour X | Whether the change is repeatable and useful |
| Which feels more natural on the green? | Try both with your regular putter | Your own pace judgment and preference |
| Which costs less for one ordinary dozen? | The product prices matched when checked | The selected offer, destination charges and tax |
What an ordinary US order starts from
Both product pages listed $39.99 per dozen on September 13, 2026. PXG’s shipping policy lists $10 ground shipping for golf balls. Combining those published figures gives $49.99 before any applicable tax for a standard single-dozen order, subject to checkout confirmation and any selected promotion. We did not place an order.
A Heroes banner is an eligibility-based offer, not the price every visitor can assume. Likewise, a multi-dozen bundle is a different initial commitment. Start with the ordinary one-dozen figure if you are evaluating the cost of a first trial.
Check that the chosen color and quantity remain correct in the basket. Standard Tour is offered in white and yellow on the current page; the Tour X page used here is white. A search link can expose different packs, so read the complete product description before paying.
Use an approach target to judge the flight choice
Select a middle-iron shot with a clearly defined landing area. Alternate balls with the same club and normal swing. Record carry and where the ball finishes, not merely which flight looks more powerful. The useful ball lets you choose a target with a predictable margin.
If Tour X appears to hold the target better, repeat the task from comparable lies. If Tour seems more comfortable into a breeze, make sure the improvement does not come from sacrificing carry you need. Course conditions matter more than an attractive general description.
Our golf-ball materials guide explains construction terminology. For another US retail reference, the Maxfli Tour comparison illustrates why family names should be interpreted within each manufacturer’s own lineup.
Keep the short shots in the test
Use the partial wedge and chip you play most often. Choose the landing point first, then watch the finish. You may need to adjust the landing plan for an unfamiliar ball; judge whether that adjustment is easy and repeatable rather than expecting identical behavior immediately.
On the putting green, use your regular putter and pace routine. Record sensation separately from the approach result. Liking a firmer or softer sound does not provide a measured spin number, but it can help settle a close practical decision.
When a larger order makes sense
Only calculate a bulk purchase after the candidate survives ordinary course play. Keep a photo of the exact box and side stamp for reorders. Do not assume a promotional book shown elsewhere on the site accompanies every single-dozen purchase.
These affiliate links open Amazon US search results for the named equipment or accessories.
Check the exact model, generation and seller. Results can include alternatives; a search link does not confirm availability. Use the official supplier links for specialist products and services.
Choose the model that delivers the flight and stopping pattern you can use, then compare the applicable order route. At an equal base price, a speculative discount should not push you toward the wrong member of the pair.
