TaylorMade SIM2 Max Driver UK: Specifications and Buying Checks

The TaylorMade SIM2 Max is worth shortlisting if its loft, shaft and condition suit you at a sensible total cost. It is a 2021 driver, so buying it in 2026 means comparing the actual offer with alternatives you can try. There is no reliable reason to promise that it will add a fixed number of yards or lose a fixed amount to a newer driver.

Research checked: 4 October 2026. We have not carried out hands-on or launch-monitor testing of this driver. Specifications below come from TaylorMade; the buying advice is our assessment of those specifications and current listing information.

What the design features mean

TaylorMade describes a forged aluminium ring joining the carbon crown, carbon sole, rear weight and face structure. A 24g rear weight helps position mass for stability. Speed Injected Twist Face and the Thru-Slot Speed Pocket address different aspects of face performance. These are design features, rather than measurements of what your shots will do.

Split Mass Weighting supports the target swing weight during custom assembly. It should not be read as a user-operated sliding weight track. Use the loft sleeve for the adjustment described by the manufacturer, and seek fitting advice when changing the setup.

SIM2, SIM2 Max and SIM2 Max-D are different heads

Read the full model name. TaylorMade’s comparison names three heads: SIM2, SIM2 Max and SIM2 Max-D. An advert shortened to “SIM2 driver” leaves that choice unresolved. Ask for a sole photograph; the headcover alone cannot identify the head.

If your main concern is a slice, test the proposed build before treating the Max name as a solution. Clubface delivery, contact and shaft or loft choices still matter. A fitted comparison is more useful than choosing from a handicap range or assuming that every player needs the newest model.

What to check on a used SIM2 Max

  1. Head and face: request photographs of the crown, face, sole and hosel. Ask the seller to explain cracks, dents, unusual marks or repairs.
  2. Shaft: record the full model, flex and playing length. A shaft fitted later may differ from TaylorMade’s original options.
  3. Adapter and hardware: confirm compatibility and whether a suitable wrench and headcover are included.
  4. Total cost: add delivery, any grip replacement and changes needed to achieve the build you intend to use.
  5. Seller terms: check who supplies the club, whether photographs show that item, and the applicable return terms.

Should you buy one?

Start with the problem you want to improve: perhaps a better contact pattern, a different flight or a replacement for a damaged club. Compare normal groups of shots with your present driver using the same ball. Look at useful carry and dispersion together, rather than selecting the longest single shot.

Buy when the complete specification, condition and seller terms make sense for you. Keep your current driver if the trial does not show a worthwhile improvement. This guide does not establish a distance ranking against current TaylorMade drivers.

Common questions

Is the SIM2 Max a 2026 release?

No. TaylorMade places the SIM2 family in its 2021 product archive. This is a current buying guide to an older model.

Can I change the shaft?

A compatible replacement can be fitted, but check the adapter, playing length and complete build. Include the fitting and component costs before buying a club that needs changing.

What is a SIM2 Max S?

The manufacturer’s compared driver names are SIM2, SIM2 Max and SIM2 Max-D. If a seller uses “S”, ask whether it describes shaft flex and request the exact head and shaft specification.
