PRGR HS-130A suits a simple reading-and-notes routine; LM1 adds a rechargeable device and app-based session workflow. Choose by how you will record and use practice results, while keeping estimated distances separate from a full fitting analysis.

Choose between immediate readings and an app history
The HS-130A manual describes speed readings, smash factor and estimated carry or total distance, with up to 500 measurements stored on the unit. The LM1 specification adds Bluetooth and USB-C recharging, and its session-history instructions describe uploading sessions to the Shot Scope app. That recording workflow is a more useful difference than asking which screen displays the biggest yardage.
| Task | PRGR HS-130A | Shot Scope LM1 |
|---|---|---|
| Quick feedback | Read the unit and its history | Read the unit and session display |
| Longer-term notes | Keep a deliberate external record | Upload sessions to the supported app |
| Power | Four AAA batteries | Rechargeable USB-C arrangement |
| Placement | Follow HS-130A height/direction instructions | Published 4–5 ft behind ball |
| Interpretation | Carry/total are estimates | Check definitions for every displayed metric |
A five-metric display does not answer every fitting question
Both shortlist entries provide speed and distance-related feedback. Neither should be bought on the assumption that a simple distance display independently measures where every shot lands or explains left/right dispersion. The PRGR manual expressly explains its estimated-distance method and that direction is not included in that calculation.
Choose a focused task, such as tracking a repeatable speed session or comparing ordinary ball-speed outcomes with the same club. If your real question concerns spin, launch conditions or why a shot curves, ask whether the available measurements answer it. Do not replace missing information with a guess merely because a carry estimate looks plausible.
Make the record useful before making it large
For a PRGR session, write down the date, club, ball type and setup alongside the readings you intend to keep. Avoid relying on an isolated maximum: it is easy to remember the best result and forget the ordinary ones. Label obvious setup errors instead of silently mixing them with valid readings.
For LM1, ask the seller to demonstrate ending a session, uploading it and finding it again in the app. Check what can be reviewed or shared in the current version. Bluetooth does not automatically establish the particular export format your coach wants. If the app history saves you a task you would otherwise skip, that is a concrete reason to prefer it.
Check the display from the hitting position
Try the LM1’s available display layouts and the PRGR’s physical buttons with the unit positioned as instructed. Can you read the selected metric without repeatedly walking behind the mat? Can you change the selected club without confusing that club’s data with the previous one? These practical questions matter more than looking at a close-up product image.
At a range, get permission for the intended position and keep the unit out of walking routes. Indoors, arrange suitable ball containment and swing clearance independently of the radar placement. The PRGR manual states it is not waterproof, so do not plan an unprotected wet-weather session around it.
Compare actual UK boxes, not a training bundle against a radar
On 13 September 2026, Complete Golfer listed LM1, code SS-LM-1AA-LM1, at £199 including tax, with its stated mainland-delivery conditions. SuperSpeed Golf UK lists the HS-130A in standalone and training-bundle options. Identify the option before comparing totals; a set of speed sticks or tripod can explain a different displayed price.
Check that the PRGR suffix is HS-130A, rather than importing connectivity assumptions from a separately named Japanese BLE model. Confirm battery needs, case contents, current stock and the UK return route. For LM1, confirm the supported phone/app for uploads even if you intend to practise without the phone beside the mat.

Choose PRGR when a straightforward reading and your own notes are enough. Choose LM1 when its display and saved-session workflow are worth the complete quote. Our PRGR guide and budget-monitor guide help place both within a realistic practice budget, without claiming a comparative accuracy result.
