Motocaddy M3 GPS vs M5 GPS: Older Stock or Current Mapping in the UK?

Compare a clearly identified older M3 GPS with the 2026 M5 GPS by performing the same course-information tasks. The M5 adds a larger screen and richer mapping; their value depends on your eyesight, course routine and the actual older package available.

This is a generation comparison as well as a screen comparison

For an identifiable older reference, Motocaddy’s 2024 M3 GPS ex-display page describes a 2.8-inch touchscreen, green and hazard distances, movable pin position and Bluetooth course updates. It identifies a specific ex-display condition category. That does not prove every M3 sold elsewhere is the same age, condition or package.

The 2026 standard M5 GPS has a 3.5-inch touchscreen, 2D and 3D mapping, hole flyovers, customisable shortcuts and Wi-Fi updates. It is the current-generation reference used here. Do not substitute a similarly named 2025 M5 page or a DHC variant without revisiting the comparison.

Choose a familiar hole and perform three tasks

Ask the retailer to load a course you know. First find a front-edge carry number; next identify the hazard you normally avoid; then select the position you would use for a lay-up. Time is less important than clarity: can you find each answer without a lengthy menu search or uncertainty about what the displayed point represents?

Repeat on both screens wearing your normal glasses. A larger display may help, but size alone does not establish readability in your preferred layout. If the M3 gives the information you need easily, the M5’s richer views must earn their premium through tasks you will use. If you frequently play unfamiliar courses, trying the full-hole view may reveal a clearer benefit.

Separate useful mapping from distracting detail

A flyover can help you understand a hole before you set off. It is less useful if you find yourself studying it while steering through a crowded path. Stop the trolley before using detailed controls and decide on a simple screen for normal walking. Custom shortcuts are worth evaluating when they reduce that effort.

Ask how a recent course alteration is corrected and whether your phone supports the older model’s update route. Confirm the included mapping features for the exact generation rather than assuming that a historical subscription charge still applies. GPS information also does not establish today’s pin location; use the relevant input and course information correctly.

Inspect older stock as a physical trolley

For an ex-display or used M3, obtain its stated grade, actual photographs and complete contents. Inspect the screen, folding locks, bag supports and wheels. Ask whether the battery is new or previously used and which warranty covers it. The official ex-display description is not a guarantee of the condition of a different retailer’s machine.

Compare that package with the exact battery and charger included in the M5 quote. For the 2026 M5, the published folded reference is 650 by 470 by 410mm; verify the necessary wheel arrangement and try the car lift. Obtain the corresponding figure for the M3 unit offered. Do not assume a newer screen necessarily changes the transport task in a useful way.

Choose the feature difference you can justify

If the older M3 is complete, supportable and easy to read, it can remain a sensible shortlist option at an appropriate actual price. Choose the M5 when the larger display, map views or update routine offer a benefit you demonstrated. If hill control matters, request the appropriate DHC comparison separately; GPS is not shorthand for that feature.

The Motocaddy range guide and electric-trolley overview help with broader transport decisions. Here, compare current UK delivered quotes and confirmed availability for these two identified generations, with return and service terms recorded before ordering.
