Before buying or selling Mizuno Pro M-13 irons, read Mizuno’s June 2026 clubface notice and establish the status of the 6-, 7- and 8-irons. Existing owners should follow Mizuno’s inspection and replacement instructions; a low used-set price does not resolve an undocumented repair history.

What the official notice says
Mizuno reports that some M-13 6-, 7- and 8-irons may develop clubface dents or deformation after repeated use. It asks owners to inspect those faces and directs anyone finding damage to its replacement process. The notice identifies updated replacement heads by a small dot to the right of the CHROMOLY hosel marking.
Read the current official notice before acting. Its scope is specific; it should not be turned into a claim that every M-13 head is damaged or that every other Mizuno iron has the same issue. We have not inspected an affected set or assessed an individual claim.
If you already own the irons
Clean the face gently enough to see it clearly, then photograph it in even light. Include the full head and an angled view rather than sending only a tightly cropped mark. Identify which numbered iron each photograph shows and retain the original files.
Follow the application linked from Mizuno’s notice. Keep your purchase details and existing club specifications available so the service team can explain the appropriate next step. If a face looks deformed, ask the team how to proceed rather than trying to reshape or repair it yourself.
Document the date you contacted the retailer or manufacturer and retain the response. Ask how the existing shaft, grip, length and lie specifications will be handled during any approved work. A replacement should be checked against your actual build, especially if the irons were originally customized.
Questions for a used-set seller
| Question | Useful evidence |
|---|---|
| Have the 6-,7- or 8-iron heads been replaced? | Service correspondence or an itemized repair record |
| Which heads are currently fitted? | Clear face, sole and hosel photographs for each relevant club |
| Does the set still match its original build? | Shaft labels, measured lengths and details of later adjustments |
| What if the condition differs on arrival? | The seller’s written return terms before payment |
A photograph of the identifying mark can help establish what the seller is showing, but it is not a substitute for a manufacturer decision about a particular club. If the history is unclear, ask Mizuno or an authorized retailer what documentation they need. Do not assume that a previous owner’s application transfers automatically to you.
Have the actual club list checked too. A set can contain individually replaced or reshafted clubs that look similar from a distance. Compare grip condition, shaft labels and any differences in playing length before treating it as a matched set.
How the notice changes a buying decision
The practical issue is uncertainty, not an automatic instruction to replace your entire bag. A documented set may be easier to evaluate than one with incomplete photographs and vague assurances. Price the usable configuration you can verify, allowing time for any inspection you still need.
If you need irons for an imminent trip, do not base the purchase on an unconfirmed service turnaround. Ask about timing directly and keep a workable alternative. The Mizuno range guide can help place the model in context, while our shaft weight guide explains why a replacement set still needs an appropriate build.
Shopping and service are separate steps
Use retail listings to compare clearly identified products after resolving the notice status. A seller’s description, marketplace badge or advertised discount does not approve a warranty claim. Keep service communication with the party responsible for the actual process.
These affiliate links open Amazon US search results for the named equipment or accessories.
Check the exact model, generation and seller. Results can include alternatives; a search link does not confirm availability. Use the official supplier links for specialist products and services.
Before the first round with an inspected or serviced set, check it against the agreed specification sheet. Save the records with your receipt so a future buyer or repairer can understand which work was completed.
