An existing Garmin Approach R10 can support TheStack’s no-impact speed workflow when the required firmware and iOS app setup are in place. Check that route before buying a second radar. TheStack’s Android or web availability does not mean R10 has the same automatic connection on those platforms.

Check the required versions before a training session
TheStack’s R10 setup instructions specify R10 firmware 4.40 or newer and TheStack iOS app 1.26.5 or newer. These are stated prerequisites, not a claim that those are the latest releases. Check the current update process in Garmin Golf and the app store before beginning.
Do not interrupt an update or try to install firmware intended for another Garmin device. Allow time to confirm the version after the update completes. An R10 that still works for ordinary ball sessions may nevertheless need the documented software support for this specific dry-swing workflow.
| Check | What you need to establish | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| R10 firmware | Current version meets the stated prerequisite | No-impact integration support |
| TheStack app | Supported iOS version and current app | Correct connection workflow |
| Speed device selection | Garmin Approach R10 selected | App expects the correct measurement source |
| Garmin Golf connection | Complete before the session as instructed | Prepare the device connection |
| Training access | Your hardware and account entitlement | Owning the radar is only one component |
Use the documented app order
The official workflow selects R10 as the speed device in TheStack, connects the R10 through Garmin Golf before each session, and then starts training in TheStack. Follow the current guide if menu wording changes; do not substitute a generic launch-monitor pairing routine from another application.
Make a short connection test before starting a full scheduled workout. Confirm that a reading reaches the correct golfer’s record and that the units are right. If the radar displays or reports a reading elsewhere but the training app remains empty, investigate the connection rather than repeating more swings.
Keep the iOS limitation visible in the purchase
TheStack’s compatibility table marks R10 connectivity as iOS-only. Its app-access page also offers Android and Chrome web options, but platform availability and radar connectivity are separate claims.
If your only device is Android, ask about the exact supported way to use your intended radar before purchasing training hardware. Do not buy a phone solely because a broad advertisement says the app exists on that platform. Check the current integration and feature set that applies to you.
Set up for the speed task
Use TheStack and Garmin’s current instructions for device placement and the intended training implement. Keep the whole swing area clear. No-impact measurement does not remove the need for adequate room around the golfer, and this article is not a personalized training program.
Record that the session used R10 and TheStack. If you later switch radar, note that change in the training record so a change in reported speed is not automatically interpreted as physical progress. For ordinary launch-monitor context, see our R10 guide.
Check the rest of the system before buying another device
Owning R10 does not necessarily mean you own TheStack training hardware or the relevant app access. Get the full current US package and renewal terms. Keep those costs separate from any case, tablet support or other practice accessories.
Our distance-tools guide helps distinguish speed training from carry-distance work. If your aim is reliable real-ball yardages, preserve a separate ball session rather than treating a speed program’s predicted potential as measured carry.

Check the exact model, generation and seller. Results can include alternatives; a search link does not confirm availability. Use the official supplier links for specialist products and services.
If your existing R10 and iOS device complete the documented workflow, another radar may be unnecessary. If platform support or session convenience remains a problem, compare alternatives against that exact issue. A second device should solve a demonstrated limitation, not compensate for an incomplete setup check.
