UK buying comparison · Sources checked 9 October 2026
Choose WinterSof as your starting point for a synthetic-palm winter pair. Put StaSof Winter on the shortlist if a leather palm is a specific preference and the current price difference is acceptable. Fit both hands before deciding: the more expensive pair is poor value if you dislike the grip feel or finger proportions.

The two winter pairs
FootJoy WinterSof pair
A cold-weather option with an AutoSuede palm. Choose the listing marked as a pair, then check your size. It is worth considering first if you have no firm preference for leather.
FootJoy StaSof Winter pair
The leather-palm alternative. Check that the product name includes Winter and that the order contains two gloves; a standard StaSof single glove is a different purchase.
Compare the exact models
| Check | WinterSof | StaSof Winter |
|---|---|---|
| FootJoy style | 66893E | 68807E |
| Palm | Sure-Grip AutoSuede knit | Taction3 APL leather |
| Cold-weather detail | Extended knit cuff; nylon and fleece back | Performance fleece back; ComforTab closure |

These details come from FootJoy’s WinterSof specification and StaSof Winter specification. The palm construction is the useful starting difference. The descriptions do not establish that one glove is warmer, longer-lasting or more secure for your hands.
Decide whether leather feel is worth paying for
If you normally enjoy a leather golf glove, StaSof Winter gives you a reason to inspect that model first. You still need to assess the complete pair: adding a glove to your normally bare hand changes what you feel around the grip. Brand familiarity alone will not settle that.
Try holding your usual club with both gloves on. Make your normal overlapping, interlocking or ten-finger grip and notice whether you keep adjusting it. Then try the small jobs you do between shots: opening a pocket, handling a tee and marking a score. You are checking whether the pair suits your routine, not trying to simulate cold-weather performance indoors.
If both fit well and you have no clear material preference, use the current delivered-price difference to decide. If only one fits properly, that matters more than a nominal saving. Do not buy an oversized pair merely because a sale leaves that size available.
Fit the pair, not only your usual glove hand
FootJoy’s glove fitting guide advises a close fit across the palm and fingers without spare material at the fingertips. Its measurement chart uses middle-finger length and hand circumference. Check both hands before ordering a winter pair.
With the gloves on, open and close your hands, take your grip and inspect where material folds. A glove that feels acceptable with an open palm can reveal a loose fingertip or pressure point when you hold a club. Keep the labels and packaging while making this initial check and follow the retailer’s conditions for trying and returning items.
The checked FootJoy listings call these regular pairs. Do not assume a cadet cut is available because the brand’s general fitting guide discusses it. Likewise, a size shown in a drop-down menu does not prove it is currently available to dispatch. Confirm the selected variant before payment.
Cold weather and sustained rain are different choices
FootJoy uses water-resistance language for the palm materials, and describes waterproof nylon on the back of WinterSof. That does not amount to a whole-glove waterproof promise. Neither product should be bought on the assumption that every part will keep your hands dry through prolonged rain.
When wet-grip performance is your main concern, compare a dedicated rain-glove pair before ordering either winter model. Our winter golf glove guide explains the choice between winter gloves, rain gloves and mitts. Pick the main job first; avoid expecting one purchase to solve every forecast.
Check the order and plan the next round
Before paying, confirm the full product name, pair contents, size, delivery charge and return arrangements. A gift buyer should ask for the recipient’s preferred fit rather than infer it from a shirt size. If unsure, keep the exchange process straightforward.
After use, follow the supplied care instructions and give the gloves time to dry before packing them away. FootJoy recommends rotating gloves to allow drying between uses. If you regularly play on consecutive days, consider whether a second usable pair matters more to you than spending the whole budget on a single premium pair.
