Garmin Approach S50: golf and daily use
Garmin’s S50 UK page lists essential golf features together with PlaysLike, health and wellness functions and activity profiles. Its manual separates ordinary green distances, golf settings and subscription-related features. Read that distinction before assuming every function pictured in a retailer’s advert is included without an ongoing fee.
Use the official specification to check wrist fit, charging and the features you need away from golf. Compare the complete model offered by the seller, since a different colour can also have a different supplied band size.
Shot Scope G6: focus on course information
Shot Scope’s G6 sheet documents full-hole maps, a built-in scorecard, hazards and lay-ups, plus access to its free app without subscription fees. This is a useful option to compare when those functions meet your needs. It does not make the G6 a laser to the current flag, or establish that every Shot Scope watch supplies the same shot-tracking features.

Garmin announced S72 on 6 October 2026, adding new swing and green-reading functions. Investigate it through Garmin’s current UK page if those functions matter to you. Its newness is a reason to verify the actual supply and feature package, not a reason to claim months of completed testing. Green reading is membership-dependent in the announcement.
What a GPS yardage tells you
Check which mapped point the number refers to. Front, middle and back distances offer a different decision from a laser reading to a visible flag. Compare readings only after confirming that both tools use the same reference; different targets can explain a disagreement without establishing that one device is faulty.
If the map seems wrong, verify the chosen course and hole, allow the device to establish its position, then follow the manufacturer’s update or mapping-support process. This guide does not promise a fixed yardage tolerance across all courses and conditions.

- Coverage: confirm your home course and likely travel courses.
