MGI HaloEye vs Stewart Q Follow: Two Ways to Follow the Golfer

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

MGI Halo Eye follows a target detected by its LiDAR system when fitted to Ai Navigator HALO. Stewart Q Follow follows its handset, which you carry in the prescribed position. Choose by the routine you prefer and the courses you walk. Neither system removes the need to supervise the caddy and take manual control where the instructions require it.

Compare complete systems, not accessory prices

MGI’s US bundle combines HALO with Halo Eye. A bare Halo Eye accessory is not a complete caddy. Q Follow is sold as a caddy with its handset-based follow system.

Understand what the system is following

The Halo Eye guide describes locking onto the closest clear target in front when Follow Me is activated. Line-of-sight changes or someone crossing the path can interrupt tracking. That makes the setup position part of using the product correctly.

The Q Follow manual says its system follows the handset. Keep it on the specified back pocket or belt rather than swinging it in your hand. The caddy is not identifying you independently of that device.

Ask for a loaded walking demonstration

Bring the bag you normally use and practice in a suitable open area with the dealer. Start following, stop, retrieve a club and switch to manual remote control. Make sure those transitions feel clear before considering more complicated routes.

Do not stage a test beside water or deliberately step into the caddy’s path to challenge a sensor. A useful demonstration establishes the ordinary routine and takeover controls, not the limits of a protection feature.

Keep obstacle assistance in perspective

Halo Eye’s manual explains that its sensor has a limited scan plane; low or high obstacles and difficult visibility can escape detection. Geo Protect is a separate mapped-hazard function, not a substitute for seeing the route yourself.

For Q Follow, do not assume that following a handset means recognizing every obstacle between the caddy and that handset. Choose the documented mode for the route and keep control available. Our remote-caddy guide explains the practical responsibilities common to these systems.

Include setup and pack-down in the decision

Halo Eye adds a mounting, alignment and separate storage routine. Its manual requires removal before HALO is folded. Check that your bag accessories and covers do not obstruct the sensor.

Q Follow requires the handset to be charged and carried correctly. Try both systems’ complete car-loading process rather than comparing only a promotional folded photograph. Confirm which battery is included in the chosen US package.

Pick the system you will operate comfortably

Our Stewart guide provides wider ownership context. Compare current US service arrangements, replacement accessories and the trial terms for the actual purchase.

Consider HALO with Halo Eye if you want its documented sensor and mapping functions and accept the extra setup. Consider Q Follow if handset following fits your habits. The better choice is the system whose controls and limitations you understand and whose routine suits your regular course.
