Choose between BenQ’s AK700ST and LK936ST from the mounting position first. Both offer 4K projection, but the AK700ST has a shorter throw range and automated setup tools, while the LK936ST provides optical lens shift. That distinction can matter more than the brighter model’s headline rating in a shared golf and movie room.

The specifications that change an installation
The AK700ST specification and LK936ST specification describe two different optical arrangements. These are manufacturer figures, not results from a side-by-side viewing test.

Calculate from image width, not diagonal size
As a first calculation, multiply projected image width by the throw ratio to estimate lens-to-screen distance. For a 120-inch-wide image, the published ratios produce about 82.8–99.6 inches for AK700ST and 97.2–106.8 inches for LK936ST. This arithmetic is an illustration, not an approved mounting plan.

Lens shift and digital correction solve different problems
The LK936ST’s optical adjustment can move the picture when the mounting point cannot sit directly on the desired axis. Check the manual’s combined adjustment limits: maximum horizontal and vertical settings are not a promise that both extremes work together.
The AK700ST setup features help focus and fit its picture. They do not turn it into a lens-shift projector. Digital correction may be convenient, but first try to design a sound optical alignment rather than relying on extensive image reshaping to rescue an unsuitable mounting point.
Evaluate golf and movies separately
Write two viewing scenarios. Golf may need enough room lighting to see clubs and the ball, while a movie may be watched from a different seat with the lights lowered. Ask for a demonstration using comparable lighting and a screen material similar to yours.
The higher brightness rating does not by itself establish superior black levels, quieter operation or a more pleasing movie picture. We have not measured those qualities. Plan the signal and sound changeover
List the golf PC, streaming device, receiver or soundbar and the connections each requires. Confirm the specific HDMI and audio-return arrangement against the exact equipment. A projector supporting a format does not guarantee every receiver, cable and source in the chain passes it correctly.
Check whether switching activities changes picture settings, input selection or seating. Keep the controls accessible and avoid routing loose cables through the golfer’s movement area. Include a suitable mount and installation in the quotation.
