The Toulon collections page distinguishes the 26 Collection from Formula, Coastal California and earlier products. Record the full collection and model name on your shortlist. Two putters described simply as Austin or Alcatraz may not be the same generation or build, so their asking prices are not automatically comparable.

Earlier listings can also use older branding in titles or photographs. Treat that as a prompt to establish identity, not as proof of either authenticity or a particular current specification. Ask for clear photographs of the sole, face, neck and shaft labels. The actual item matters more than a seller’s shorthand description.

Separate shape from hosel

The 2026 Collection lists Austin H1, Monaco H1 and H4.5, and Alcatraz or Alcatraz Mini with H1 and Double Bend options. Houston and Las Vegas also have specified alternatives. These combinations show why the head name should remain paired with its hosel code throughout the buying process.

You might like a head’s alignment features but prefer another shaft position at address. Test that question directly by comparing configurations within a shape where possible. Conversely, if you are changing the head outline, keep other parts of the build similar enough to understand what is driving the preference.

Treat the face design as a specification

Toulon’s 2026 description discusses a revised Deep Diamond Mill pattern with additional horizontal grooves. That is a manufacturer account of the face construction. It does not provide an independent performance result from us, and it should not be transferred to an earlier putter merely because its face looks similar in a small photograph.

Use your regular ball when assessing contact feedback. Compare short, medium and longer putts, and allow time to settle into each build. If a fitter provides delivery data, relate the recommendation to what the complete putter changes for your stroke.

Check handedness before narrowing the choice

The current collection identifies selected left-handed configurations rather than promising every combination in both hands. Establish whether the exact head and hosel you want is offered in your playing hand before spending time comparing cosmetic options. A right-handed photograph on a retailer page is not sufficient confirmation of the selected variant.

Do the same for playing length and grip. A stock model description may sit above a selector that changes the order details. Ask the seller to confirm the final configuration in writing, especially if a custom length, lie or loft is involved. Read the applicable return terms before authorising custom work.

Decide how the putter will be used

If this is a playing purchase, prioritise setup, aim and pace over the prestige of a collection label. If a limited or unusual finish also matters to you, treat that as a separate preference with its own value. A cosmetic feature does not remove the need to fit the putter to your normal routine.

For used stock, inspect face damage, shaft condition and any altered paint or finish. Ask about regripping, reshafting or length changes, because the original model page may no longer describe the complete build.
