ZXi5+ is an announced second-generation Srixon model with an October 16, 2026 launch date. Earlier ZXi4 sets are a separate buying option. Decide between waiting and buying older stock by fit, complete set cost and delivery certainty—not by treating the two names as interchangeable.

Keep the generations separate
Srixon’s September announcement introduces ZXi5+ as a forged hollow players-distance iron within the new ZXi generation. The earlier ZXi4 is also a hollow-head design, but an older model’s specifications should not be copied into a ZXi5+ comparison.

| Timing | Official launch October 16, 2026 | Check the individual seller’s actual offer |
| Reference specification | Obtain the final model/build chart for your order | Official chart lists 28.5-degree 7-iron and 43-degree PW |
| Cost comparison | Written quote for the chosen new build | Exact remaining set, plus any required alterations |
A pre-sale listing is not evidence that a custom set will arrive immediately. Equally, an older product page remaining online does not establish stock in your handedness or preferred shaft. Ask the supplying shop to confirm the actual order rather than relying on a search snippet.
When waiting makes sense
Waiting is reasonable if you have usable irons and want to compare the new head before committing. Book a fitting when the shop can confirm it has the correct demonstration equipment. Take your current set so the appointment answers whether a change improves the shots you play, rather than simply whether the new model feels attractive.
Ask to test the long and short ends as well as the common fitting iron. A compact-looking distance iron still needs to deliver a useful long-iron flight and a sensible transition into your wedges. Our iron construction guide provides background, but it cannot substitute for this model-specific comparison.
If your current set is damaged or a trip is approaching, availability becomes part of the decision. Establish a last acceptable delivery date and a backup. A launch calendar is less useful than a shop confirming the exact heads and shafts allocated to your order.
How to evaluate a discounted ZXi4 set
List every included club and photograph the shaft labels. A low price for five clubs is not directly comparable with a quote for seven. Check whether the set contains the approach wedge you need and whether its longest iron actually earns a place in your bag.
The older ZXi4 chart lists a 43-degree pitching wedge and 49-degree approach wedge. Test those against your current wedges rather than assuming your familiar wedge labels still cover the same distances. Use the wedge gapping guide to plan that session.
Add likely regripping, length correction and inspection costs to an older-set quote. For a used set, request clear sole and face photographs, ask whether loft or lie was altered, and establish the seller’s return terms. Original specifications describe how a club was designed; they do not verify a used club’s present condition.
Put both offers on the same worksheet
Use columns for the club list, shaft, grip, finished length, delivered price and earliest confirmed arrival. Include applicable US sales tax and shipping. Keep resale estimates separate from money you are guaranteed to receive; an optimistic trade-in assumption can disguise a more expensive upgrade.

Check the exact model, generation and seller. Results can include alternatives; a search link does not confirm availability. Use the official supplier links for specialist products and services.
Favor the older set when the actual build fits and its total cost leaves a meaningful saving. Favor the new option when you can demonstrate a useful difference or obtain a required configuration the older stock cannot supply. If neither has been tested, keep the conclusion provisional instead of claiming that a new generation must outperform an earlier iron.
