Start with X1 when you want straightforward powered walking
The ZIP X1 page explicitly identifies a non-remote trolley with variable speed control and a fixed front wheel. It is the appropriate family to investigate if you want the motor to move the load while you stay at the handle and guide it yourself.
Try the handle height, starting response and stopping routine with your bag fitted. The manufacturer cautions that its ZIP range is suited to cart bags and that not every stand or carry bag is compatible. A familiar bag may need a specific support solution, so settle that fit before using the trolley’s empty-frame dimensions to make the decision.
Navigator makes steering commands part of the round
The ZIP Navigator family provides remote control. Its useful comparison with X1 is the way you want to manage the route, rather than whether one model has a more impressive name. A remote requires you to understand steering and stopping and to keep the machine under supervision.
Test small corrections in a suitable demonstration area and learn the model’s intended close-control mode. A technology that helps maintain direction does not establish that the trolley detects a pond, chooses a bridge or routes itself around another golfer. Keep the manufacturer’s operating limits beside the feature list when deciding whether it suits your course.
Ai 500 separates GPS from remote control
MGI explicitly calls Ai 500 a non-remote model while documenting its four-inch GPS touchscreen. This can suit a golfer who wants course information at the handle but prefers direct control of the trolley. Ai Navigator GPS+ is the separate comparison when both GPS and directional remote control are required.
Ask for a demonstration of the course view, ordinary distance screen and menu controls. Consider whether you would use that display instead of, or alongside, your existing rangefinder or watch. Buying a second way to see the same information has less value if you already prefer the device in your pocket.
Compare the battery package and complete lift
MGI’s regional pages show battery specifications alongside their models, but a range-wide Click & Go name is not enough to identify every replacement pack. Record the exact included battery, compatible charger and the supplied remote charging lead where relevant. Ask the UK seller to confirm those items for the order.
Transport figures also need their configuration. The Ai 500 source describes a fold with rear wheels inverted and lists weights with and without the battery. If you do not intend to invert wheels or remove the pack each round, demonstrate the arrangement you will actually use. Keep the golf bag in the car when checking the space left for the frame.
Use the manufacturer’s UK route for service terms
MGI’s international distributor page names American Golf for the United Kingdom. Its Australian warranty page specifically directs purchasers elsewhere to their local distributor’s policy. Obtain the applicable UK cover for the trolley, battery and charger in the actual offer, including any registration requirements.
For a used purchase, ask about ownership transfer and support before assuming the original buyer’s cover follows the trolley. Keep the serial number, battery identity and receipt together. The useful MGI shortlist is then straightforward: X1 for handle control, Navigator for remote use, Ai 500 for handle-based GPS, or Ai Navigator GPS+ when you want both functions and accept the associated setup routine.
