Measure the radar lane before comparing prices

Garmin’s R10 setup instructions specify 6–8 feet behind the ball and at least 8 feet from ball to net. The MLM2PRO UK FAQ specifies 6.5–8.5 feet behind the ball plus 8 feet of indoor ball flight. Neither is a shortcut for a very shallow room: those dimensions also exclude whatever extra space your swing and containment installation require.

Mark the intended hitting point on the finished floor plan. Include mat height, overhead obstructions, net movement and a clear area around the golfer. A monitor fitting behind the ball does not prove the whole bay is suitable. For a driving range, ask whether the bay has an unobstructed rear position and permits the device.

Item Displayed amount What remains outside it
R10 at GolfOnline £449 Delivery,compatible display device,desired software
MLM2PRO at Rapsodo UK £549.99 Display device, paid use after trial if wanted
MLM2PRO one-year Premium £165.99 Third-party simulator licences
Extra dozen RPT balls £69.99 Optional replenishment beyond supplied sleeve

The R10 retailer reference and Rapsodo UK offer are item-price snapshots, not completed room quotations. Rapsodo lists a 45-day Premium trial and a supplied sleeve of RPT balls. Hardware plus one paid year at those displayed amounts is £715.98; that arithmetic is not the cost of a net, mat, phone or full simulator.

Decide what you need after the trial

On the checked MLM2PRO offer, spin functions, club path, angle of attack and several simulation/video features sit within Premium. The FAQ also requires the specified RPT balls for spin readings. Decide whether those features are the reason you are buying, then budget for them beyond the trial rather than judging the device solely during a fully unlocked demonstration.

Rapsodo also advertises longer membership options. Confirm their current UK terms and what “lifetime” attaches to before paying upfront; it does not mean every third-party golf program is included. Keep the trial activation and renewal date visible. Do not copy a dollar price from an international FAQ into a sterling budget.

R10 also needs the right software and display plan

Garmin’s current Home Tee Hero information identifies a compatible phone/app route for R10 and an active Garmin Golf membership for that simulation mode. Establish which practice functions you want without it and which paid program would add value. A monitor being compatible with software does not make the licence, phone or computer part of the hardware box.

Try your own supported phone or tablet during the demonstration where possible. Check screen visibility from the mat, how you replay a shot and where the device sits safely. Do not assume any USB-C phone can send video to a projector; confirm the specific display connection before purchasing cables or a projector.

Range-ball practice is a different comparison from home spin work

At a public range you may be required to use its balls. If they are not the required RPT type, do not expect the MLM2PRO spin workflow demonstrated with marked balls at home. Likewise, do not turn ordinary range-ball distances into a definitive on-course carry chart without considering the ball and conditions.

For either monitor, ask to save a consistent set of shots and review the session. Note which values are measured and which are calculated in the exact software version. We have not conducted a head-to-head accuracy test, so a longer metric list or higher price is not evidence of a verified accuracy winner.

Choose the complete setup whose space, display and ongoing features fit your actual practice. Our R10 guide and subscription guide help check the individual requirements. Resolve these before adding a simulator enclosure to the order.
