A lob wedge adds a higher-flight option, but it should be selected for realistic shots and tested against the wedge you already trust.

Choose a gap wedge from the distances around it, then decide whether a matching set wedge or specialist head suits the shots you need.

Groove condition matters, but a fixed age or round count cannot diagnose every wedge. Start with cleaning and a controlled comparison.

A chipper can simplify one common greenside shot, provided that job is useful enough to justify a club slot.
