Blue Tees Ringer 2.0 vs Player Pro: Screen or GPS Speaker?

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Choose Ringer GPS 2.0 when you want a compact distance screen to take to the ball. Consider Player Pro when a touchscreen speaker fits your cart routine and you will use its connected features. Before choosing Player Pro for phone-free golf, resolve an important conflict: its sales FAQ makes broader standalone claims than its linked user manual.

A handheld and a speaker solve different problems

The Ringer product page identifies a pocketable handheld with built-in GPS. Player Pro adds an audio system around its screen. A larger connected device is not automatically a better choice when the main task is checking a yardage beside your ball.

Use the manual for the Player Pro purchase check

Page 15 of the Player Pro manual describes golf features during an active GAME app round. It also lists a subscription requirement for scoring, hole view, green heat maps, shot distance and adjusted-distance or club-recommendation functions. This is more restrictive than the sales FAQ.

Ask Blue Tees which requirements apply to the current firmware and your US account. Until confirmed, budget for the documented connected setup. A screen that lets you leave the phone in a pocket is different from a product that never needs a phone or membership.

Place the information beside the shot

On a cart-path-only hole, imagine walking to your ball with two clubs. A handheld can come with you. A speaker attached to the cart may be convenient between shots but less useful where the club decision happens.

For each device, establish which position supplies the displayed distance and what happens when the phone or cart stays elsewhere. Our GPS-versus-rangefinder guide explains why mapped green numbers and a laser measurement to a visible flag serve different purposes.

Shot distance does not mean automatic club records

The Ringer manual describes a start-and-finish shot-distance workflow. Do not interpret the phrase “shot tracking” as proof that the device automatically knows which club you used or captures every stroke without input.

Decide whether you want occasional drive measurements, a scorecard or detailed club-by-club analysis. Those are different jobs. Check the actual steps in a demonstration rather than buying from a feature label alone.

Check an existing speaker by its exact name

Ringer documentation identifies a music-control arrangement with Player+. Player Pro is a different product. Do not assume that every older Blue Tees accessory or pairing procedure transfers simply because the brand name matches.

If you already have a speaker, ask whether Ringer adds a useful portable screen to the equipment you own. Replacing the whole setup is worthwhile only when the new arrangement solves a real inconvenience.

Compare the complete US setup

Include any case, charging cable and ongoing service you intend to use. Read the current enrollment terms for a bonus membership; a trial is not lifetime access. Our golf GPS app guide helps identify the phone tasks worth testing before buying.

Ringer is the clearer starting point for a portable yardage display. Player Pro deserves a demonstration if audio and a cart-mounted screen are central to your round, with its current app and membership requirements confirmed first.
