Callaway Apex UW 26 vs Apex Ti Super Hybrid: Filling One Bag Gap

Choose Apex UW 26 or Apex Ti Super Hybrid for a specific carry gap and the lies you expect to play. Their loft ranges overlap, but the same loft does not mean the same length or complete club. Test the actual configuration against both neighbors in your bag.

A useful same-loft comparison

The official US charts show a 21-degree option in each family, but the builds differ:

Published 21-degree US specifications
Specification Apex UW26 Apex Ti Super Hybrid4H
Standard length 40.75 inches 40.25 inches
Lie 57.75 degrees 58.75 degrees
Listed swingweight D3 D1
Handedness Right andleft Right andleft

These figures come from the Apex UW and Apex Ti Super Hybrid pages. They describe standard builds, not a prediction that the longer club must carry farther for every player.

Define the missing shot

Write down the carry distance between your longest reliable iron and the next wood. Then describe the shot: a long approach that must land on a green, a tee shot on a short hole, or an advance from light rough. One club may cover several tasks, but it should be tested for each important one.

Bring both neighboring clubs to the appointment. A new club that duplicates the wood above it does not solve a gap below it, even if it produces the session’s longest shot. The distance worksheet helps keep these relationships visible.

Choose lofts from results, not labels

The UW chart lists17,19,21 and 23 degrees; the Ti Super Hybrid chart lists16,18,21 and 24. Ask the fitter which combinations are plausible for the target shot, then compare their carry ranges. Do not begin by assuming that a particular hybrid number must replace the same numbered iron.

Left-handed availability also narrows the shortlist. The UW chart lists19 and 21 in both hands, while17 and 23 are right-handed only. Ti Super Hybrid lists18 and 21 in both hands, with 16 and 24 right-handed only. Confirm the exact head and build before arranging a test or order.

Separate tee and turf results

Hit a few tee shots if that role matters, then compare from a normal fairway lie. If you often play from light rough, ask whether the demonstration setting permits that test. Avoid treating shots from a perfect indoor mat as proof of every on-course use.

Record where the ball lands as well as total distance. A flatter shot that runs is useful for some situations but may not solve a long approach into a shallow green. Your preferred flight should relate to the course, not to a generic claim that lower spin is always desirable.

If neither option launches comfortably, broaden the fitting rather than forcing a decision. Our fairway-wood comparison guide provides context for considering another format, while retaining the same target carry as the test objective.

Keep the final build on the quote

Record the full shaft model, flex, finished length and grip. The standard charts illustrate how much can differ at the same loft; a custom build needs its own record. Ask the supplier to confirm any adjustment or shaft installation instead of assuming compatibility from the Callaway name.

Compare the delivered US cost including fitting, components, shipping and tax. Choose the club that covers the missing shot with manageable misses. If both do that similarly, the one you address comfortably and can obtain in the tested configuration is the more defensible purchase.
