For wide feet, start with a shoe that actually offers a width choice. The FootJoy Pro/SL lists Medium, Wide and Extra Wide, while Under Armour sells separate Drive Pro Wide models. A soft upper or a description such as “adaptive fit” is not, by itself, a wide-size specification.

FootJoy Pro/SL: compare Wide against Extra Wide
The current FootJoy Pro/SL is a spikeless shoe, not a soft-spike model. Its Vantage last combines a fuller forefoot and rounded toe with a somewhat narrower heel. The product page offers separate width selection alongside the UK size.
That makes it a sensible first appointment or try-on if a wide forefoot has left you choosing between toe pressure and a loose heel. Compare the two widths at the appropriate length rather than assuming Extra Wide is automatically better. Extra room is useful only where your foot needs it.
Use the exact model and style when comparing shops. Older Pro/SL, Pro/SLX and BOA listings can appear in the same search results; a familiar name does not prove identical construction. Verify the size and width on the box as well as the order confirmation.
Under Armour: choose the Wide model explicitly
The Drive Pro Wide 3026919 has S3 spikes. The Drive Pro Spikeless Wide 3026921 uses a hybrid TPU and rubber outsole. Both are explicitly marked Wide and use conventional tie laces.
These are useful alternatives to try against the FootJoy, especially if you already know which sole type you prefer. They are not evidence that every Under Armour golf shoe has the same width. Check length, width and foot shape separately
Getting a longer shoe solely to escape pressure across the toes can leave a poor fit elsewhere. Have both feet measured, then try the appropriate length and width together. A broad forefoot, high instep and narrow heel are separate fitting considerations; a single “wide” label cannot describe all three.
FootJoy’s fitting guide recommends trying shoes with your golf socks and being measured towards the end of the day. Its checks include toe space, the forefoot flex point and unwanted movement while walking or making a practice swing.
Do the trial indoors on a clean surface while the shoes can still be returned. Wear the socks you expect to use most often. If you normally use an orthotic, take it to a fitting and check that the intended insole arrangement works; stacking inserts to solve one problem can remove space elsewhere.
Choose the sole after narrowing the fit
Think about the ground on your regular course: slopes, soft approaches and the amount of walking on paths all matter to your decision. Compare a spiked and spikeless option in a similar fit if you are unsure. A product’s waterproof description concerns water protection, while its outsole is a separate traction choice.

Make the order easy to check
Record the full model, style code, UK size and width before checking out. Avoid translating E, Wide or Extra Wide into a universal measurement across brands. Read the selected retailer’s return conditions and keep the shoes clean until you are satisfied with the indoor fit.
