Spornia Projection Target: SPG-7 and SPG-8 Simulator Upgrade Checks

A white Spornia projection target can make an existing net more useful for simulator golf, but it is only one component. Choose the sheet that matches your SPG-7 or SPG-8, then plan the projected image, ball capture and launch-monitor setup around the complete installation.

What the white target actually adds

The official projection-target page describes a white polyester surface for the two net models. It includes the sheet; the net, projector, monitor and simulator software are separate. A photograph showing a complete bay does not establish that the listing contains every component.

For an owner who already reads shot data on a tablet, the benefit is convenience: the course image moves into the hitting area. The sheet does not start measuring shots or unlock software courses. Write down the existing monitor model and software plan before shopping so a projection purchase does not hide a separate compatibility problem.

A square target changes projector planning

Measure the usable white area rather than treating the entire net opening as a screen. A widescreen picture fitted inside a square has unused space above and below; filling the square instead can crop content unless the software and projector settings support the intended layout. Check that menus, shot numbers and aiming controls remain readable.

Use our golf-projector planning guide to work through throw distance and placement. Mock up the projected rectangle with tape and check it from the hitting position. Allow for the golfer’s shadow, the swing arc and a protected mounting position before committing to a projector.

The net still has to catch misses

A bright image can draw attention away from the surrounding capture area. Inspect the net, target fastenings and side protection before adding equipment. Do not assume a white replacement sheet repairs worn netting or makes a smaller room safe for a full swing.

Our net-versus-impact-screen comparison explains why the choice concerns the whole practice space. Keep people and fragile items outside possible missed-shot paths, and follow the net maker’s setup instructions. A shorter club is not a substitute for checking actual swing clearance.

When this upgrade makes sense

It is a sensible shortlist for an existing Spornia owner who wants an image on the target and is comfortable with the available square area. A buyer planning a wider permanent picture should first compare a purpose-built enclosure, because replacing the entire arrangement later changes the cost calculation.

Before ordering, photograph the net label, select the matching target variant and check the seller’s included-items list. Compare the complete cost of projection hardware, mounting and software with continuing to use a separate display. If a tablet already provides the feedback you need, a fresh standard target may solve the maintenance problem without adding projection.
