The Net Return Sim Kit: Upgrade an Existing Net or Buy an Enclosure?

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

The Net Return Simulator Kit makes the most sense when you already own a compatible net in good condition and want to add projection. The kit supplies the screen and darkening surround; it does not include the net or frame. If you are starting from nothing, compare the full net-plus-kit cost with a purpose-built enclosure and all the electronics.

Know what the Sim Kit actually includes

The current Simulator Kit listing explicitly describes accessory-only screen and surround contents. It offers Home, Pro, Pro 8, Pro 9, Pro 10 and Pro XL selections. Choose the one matching your existing net; the ordinary Pro and Pro 8 are different sizes.

Upgrade or new enclosure
Starting point Route to compare Main missing items
Compatible net already owned Matching Net Return Sim Kit Launch monitor, display hardware, software and suitable mat
Old or unidentified net Condition and compatibility check first Any repair or replacement needed
No net or frame Complete net-plus-kit versus enclosure All components beyond each package’s included list
Dedicated permanent room Purpose-built enclosure configuration Correct pipes, protection, electronics and installation

The product page also states that screens are not returnable. Check the current terms and settle compatibility before ordering. A general accessories return policy should not be assumed to override a screen-specific condition.

Confirm the existing frame, not just its width

Identify the net’s model and generation using its purchase record and frame details. If uncertain, send photographs to The Net Return and ask which current kit fits. Check the netting, connectors and frame before hanging additional components from a used setup.

The manufacturer FAQ describes tailored Home and Pro conversion kits, but that is not approval to stretch an incorrect screen onto a similar frame. Do not rely on the word universal in an unrelated accessory listing. Our practice-net guide helps assess the underlying practice station.

What changes with a dedicated enclosure?

As a comparison, Carl’s Place DIY enclosure packages an impact screen, surround and frame fittings, with a pipe specification or optional pipe-framing kit. It is a different build path from covering an existing Net Return frame. Confirm whether pipes are in the quote rather than treating fittings as a complete frame.

A dedicated enclosure may better suit a permanent room or a preferred screen proportion. An upgrade may preserve equipment you already use and know how to store. Neither choice removes the need for a suitable hitting mat, adequate containment and a carefully measured room.

Measure the projected image and the swing separately

Obtain the exact screen’s viewable dimensions and shape before choosing a projector. Check the projector’s throw requirements and a mounting position outside the swing and ball paths. A screen that fits the net does not establish that an existing projector can fill it from your available location.

Then assess the golfer, mat height, club length, ceiling obstructions and the manufacturer’s equipment clearances. Our impact-screen guide explains why outer frame size and usable image area differ. Avoid treating either one as a safe minimum room dimension.

Make two complete equipment lists

  1. For the upgrade, list the matching Sim Kit, repairs if needed, required containment and your existing net.
  2. For the enclosure, list screen, surround, fittings, pipes and the protection required by that configuration.
  3. For both, add a launch monitor and software that support the intended simulation.
  4. Include the necessary computer or mobile device, projector or other display, mounts and cables.
  5. Account for a suitable hitting surface, lighting control and the complete storage or installation routine.

Do not assume a simulator picture in a product gallery means that a projector, launch monitor or course subscription is included. Our net-versus-screen guide helps decide whether projection adds enough value to justify that wider purchase.

Choose the upgrade when it preserves a good setup

Buy the Sim Kit when the net is confirmed compatible, the room works and the completed quote makes sense. Prefer a new enclosure when the existing frame is unsuitable or a permanent layout calls for another screen shape. Ask each supplier about its exact configuration before purchasing nonreturnable or custom parts.

The shopping links below concern simulator accessories. Use the official model-specific route for the screen kit or enclosure; an accessory search does not buy a complete simulator.
