Speed Cart X is Sun Mountain’s current three-wheel option; PX4 is its four-wheel alternative with adjustable front-wheel spacing for larger bags. Choose between them by loaded steering, bag clearance and car fit. Four wheels do not automatically make PX4 heavier: its listed weight is lower than Speed Cart X.

Compare the current models, not old family names
Speed Cart X follows the Speed Cart V1R but has its own updated component list. PX4 develops the Pathfinder four-wheel format. Older reviews can help explain the families, but they do not establish the parts or accessories supplied with a current US cart.

What the extra front wheel changes
A wheel-count comparison is a starting point for a demonstration, not a stability verdict. Fit your usual loaded bag and try slow turns, a straight path and parking on appropriate ground. Look at the complete footprint and the way the bag sits over it.
With PX4, ask the dealer to show the intended front-axle adjustment for a larger bag. Confirm that your bag clears the wheels and remains supported properly; do not assume extending the axles creates unlimited space. With Speed Cart X, check the same lower-bag clearance and how the frame handles your preferred bag shape.

Storage and accessories affect the daily experience
Speed Cart X’s current page highlights revised wheels, stainless steel fasteners and bearings, an updated umbrella holder, brake cable and magnetic rangefinder plate. PX4 lists a mesh basket, valuables pouch and adjustable bungee attachment. Verify what is actually included in your selected package rather than assuming every accessory shown beside an older cart transfers.
Put your phone, bottle and usual small items in the intended places during the demonstration. Open the bag’s clothing pocket and remove a club with the umbrella holder installed. A cart that holds everything but blocks access to it will be inconvenient over an entire round.
Folded fit needs a physical check
Neither wheel count nor headline weight tells you whether the folded shape will pass through your car opening. Fold both carts using the supplied instructions, then place them in the space alongside your golf bag. Note the positions of wheels and handles that could contact the car interior.

Think about service before a small saving
Ask which wheel, brake and folding parts are available for the exact model. A generic Sun Mountain label on a spare does not establish fit across Speed Cart, Micro-Cart and Pathfinder generations. Keep the model information and purchase record with the cart’s instructions.
