Protecting a Floor-Mounted Golf Simulator Projector: Fit Before Purchase

A floor projector case is not compatible merely because the projector body fits inside it. Check usable internal space, the lens opening, connected cables and the projector’s ventilation rules. Then confirm that the case can sit in an approved location: a protective box is not a reason to put expensive electronics directly in the shot line.

A real case with a specific protection limit

Carl’s Floor Mounted Projector Enclosure is one US buying route. Its listed dimensions are 8 inches high, 17.4 wide and 23.7 deep, but the product text does not clearly identify those as the usable internal cavity. Request the internal drawing before comparing them with a projector specification.

Carl’s states that the case is intended for indirect shots, not repeated direct impacts or placement directly in front of the tee. It recommends ceiling mounting where possible. Those limits matter more than the general claim that a case fits most projectors.

Build a five-part fit record

Information to send the case supplier
Check Record for the exact projector
Body Width, height and depth including feet
Lens Center position and clear opening needed
Connections Plug depth, cable bend and access
Cooling Intake, exhaust and manual clearances
Placement Lens-to-screen distance and approved offset

Photographs of the front, rear and vented sides can help the supplier assess the actual model. Include the intended feet or wedges. A case that closes around the bare chassis may stop closing when a stiff HDMI connector is attached.

Ventilation can rule out an otherwise neat fit

The BenQ AK700ST manual, for example, requires unobstructed vents, free airflow and at least 50 centimeters from walls; it excludes confined or poorly ventilated spaces. That is not evidence that this BenQ model is approved for Carl’s case.

Ask the projector manufacturer how its instructions apply to the proposed enclosure. Do not solve a conflict by drilling improvised openings, adding an unapproved fan or assuming the case supplier’s generic compatibility wording overrides the projector manual. Choose a different mounting arrangement if approval cannot be established.

Check the optical path with the window fitted

The case instructions use wedges to raise the projector’s rear and route cables through side slots. Confirm that any resulting tilt remains within the projector’s permitted operating orientation and adjustment limits.

Account for the lens location, protective window and complete projected beam. The case itself must not clip the picture. Our projector guide explains throw and image alignment; keystone correction is not permission to place the case anywhere convenient.

Keep the case outside normal movement

Map the stance, practice swings, ball path and walking route. Consider both handednesses if the simulator is shared. A turf-covered top may visually blend into the room, so its location should remain obvious to everyone using the space.

Keep cables protected without covering cooling openings. Do not use the case as a step or storage surface. Check screen movement and the position of other equipment; the protective case and impact screen perform different jobs.

Inspect it as part of the simulator

Follow the case and projector cleaning instructions. Inspect the clear window, fasteners and cable openings, and stop using a damaged arrangement until assessed. A previously successful installation can change after the projector is moved, a different cable is installed or a replacement model is fitted.

Our complete simulator overview helps place this accessory within the larger equipment plan.

Buy after the model-specific fit is confirmed

Send the completed record to both suppliers and retain their response with the installation documents. Choose a floor case only when dimensions, optics, cooling and placement all work together. Where one remains unresolved, an appropriate overhead or alternative protected installation deserves consideration before purchase.
