Simulator Package vs Separate Parts: Comparing Two Real US Bills of Materials

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

A simulator package is worth comparing with separate parts only after both lists describe a complete working setup. Foresight’s Play10 GC3 package includes substantial hardware but explicitly excludes the gaming PC. A Carl’s Place DIY enclosure is a different starting point: you must specify the monitor, display, mat and computing around it.

Research-based buying guidance, checked September 13, 2026. We have not tested this setup in person.

Two concrete purchase lists, not two invented price totals

The first list below follows the SIM IN A BOX Play10 GC3 package. The second is an editorial example built from real separately sold components: Carl’s DIY enclosure, a club-enabled GC3 package, HotShot mat and BenQ AH30ST projector. It is not a manufacturer-approved bundle or a fit guarantee.

We have not supplied a total because screen size, options, freight, tax and computer specification materially affect it. Use these lists to request current US quotes on the same day.

Normalize the two bills of materials
Component Foresight Play10 GC3 package Separate-parts example
Monitor and core software GC3 ball/club data, FSX Play and 25 courses listed Specify equivalent GC3 software/data package
Screen and enclosure Frame and screen included Carl’s DIY kit in the measured size/material
Frame pipe Part of packaged frame Add pipe kit or required local EMT
Hitting surface Mat included HotShot configuration chosen for the layout
Projection Projector included; confirm exact model AH30ST only if throw and image fit work
Computer Gaming PC excluded Suitable gaming PC separately
Other equipment Nets, sandbags and cart listed Specify protection, cable management and PC support

Make the projector comparison fair

Ask Foresight to identify the projector in the current package and obtain its specifications. Compare it with the independently selected projector at the same intended resolution and image size. Do not assume a package photograph establishes the exact model delivered.

The AH30ST is a real 1080p short-throw option, but it belongs in the separate list only if its optics suit the measured room. Check lens position, image width, mounting and possible shadows before ordering. Our projector guide covers the decisions that a brand name cannot settle.

Match the monitor rights rather than just the GC3 label

Keep ball data, club information, Foresight software and any third-party simulation in separate rows. If one quote contains different entitlements, correct the difference before comparing totals. A cheaper hardware variant can make two otherwise similar lists unequal.

Check the PC against the actual applications and display resolution. The packaged enclosure’s computer cart is furniture, not the missing gaming computer. Our subscription guide helps identify recurring software costs that should sit below the hardware total.

Add the work and room items neither list settles

Include installation, approved mounting hardware, power provision, cable routing and any necessary room protection. For the DIY list, cost conduit supply and preparation if you are not buying the pipe option. Confirm that the installer follows the selected enclosure’s instructions.

Map actual outside enclosure dimensions, the screen’s rear clearance, monitor position and complete swing paths. A nominal ten-foot package name is not a statement that a ten-foot room is safe. Keep the golfer’s space separate from the enclosure’s footprint.

Compare support and substitutions

With a package, ask who diagnoses an issue involving the monitor, projector and computer. With separate parts, record each supplier’s responsibility and return terms. A single invoice may simplify ordering, but it does not automatically create an installation or support service that has not been promised.

Require approval before model substitutions. A different mat thickness can affect the layout; a different projector can change mounting. Keep any rangefinder or other bundled extra separate from the essential simulator list and give it value only if you actually want it.

Choose after the complete quotes agree on the task

Choose the package when its confirmed components, fit and support suit you at an acceptable total. Choose separate parts when the customization solves a specific room or practice requirement and you are comfortable coordinating it. The cheaper headline is not necessarily the cheaper working simulator.

Sources and method

We checked Foresight SIM IN A BOX Play10 GC3, Carl’s Place DIY enclosure kit, Foresight GC3 current package, Carl’s HotShot mat system, BenQ AH30ST specifications. Product facts come from these official sources; the decision steps are our editorial guidance. Confirm the exact US package and current terms before ordering.
