Snell PR3 vs Maxfli Tour: Direct Order or US Retail Purchase?

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Snell PR3 and Maxfli Tour are worth comparing as identifiable urethane balls with different US buying routes. Start with a small trial, then compare delivered reorder costs; the lower displayed dozen price does not by itself establish the cheaper order or the better fit.

What is verified about these models?

Snell’s PR3 page specifies a three-piece ball with its TPU-X Armor urethane cover and a published 80–85 compression range. The linked Maxfli Tour page specifies a cast-urethane cover. We have not independently measured either ball.

Do not use compression alone to predict which will travel farther or fit a particular player. Different published measurements and constructions are not a substitute for comparing the shots you need. Our golf-ball materials guide explains the broader terminology.

Starting US product prices checked September 13, 2026
Ball Displayed dozen price Still to add or verify
Snell PR3 $34.99 Shipping, tax and selected quantity
Maxfli Tour $39.99 Delivery or local pickup, tax and any actual offer

The displayed difference is $5 per dozen before those variables. This is not a completed destination-specific basket comparison. Use the real checkout totals for your address before calling either route cheaper.

Direct ordering changes the replenishment decision

Snell’s shipping policy describes free ground shipping for qualifying five-dozen orders in the contiguous US, with exceptions. That can affect repeat orders, but it is a poor reason to buy five dozen before testing PR3.

For Maxfli, check the actual local-store or delivery option rather than assuming the nearest store has your chosen model and color. Convenience has value when you need a replacement dozen quickly, but it must be based on real availability.

Compare one useful trial quantity

Obtain enough of each model to preserve a reference sleeve and still play representative shots. Keep the same wedge, putter and iron when alternating between balls. Mark them clearly and avoid mixing a current ball with an older found example carrying a similar name.

Begin with shots into and around the green. Watch whether a familiar swing produces a useful landing and rollout pattern. Then compare full approaches and drives. Record what happens on normal imperfect strikes rather than choosing the ball that accompanies your best swing of the day.

Keep the brand-family questions elsewhere

Our Snell range guide provides PR-series background, while the Maxfli family comparison explains Tour’s position beside Tour X and Tour S. This purchase decision is specifically PR3 versus Tour, not a ranking of every ball sold by either brand.

If the trial suggests you actually need a different model within a family, investigate that before committing to a bulk offer. A promotion should not lock you into the wrong comparison merely because you already selected a basket.

Calculate the repeat-order cost after choosing

Use the quantity you realistically expect to play, including delivery and checkout charges. Compare the same number of balls or clearly show the different cash commitment. A lower per-dozen price requiring much more upfront spending is a tradeoff, not an unconditional saving.

Keep the packaging and model details from the preferred ball for accurate reorders. Choose PR3 or Tour because its useful performance and buying route fit your needs. Without controlled testing, there is no basis here for a universal distance, spin or value winner.

Sources and method

Specifications and product distinctions come from Snell PR3 specifications, Maxfli Tour dozen listing, Snell US shipping terms. Order availability and personal fitting results need confirmation for your chosen configuration.
