Try GTS2 and GTS3 as different fitting tools, not as beginner and expert versions. GTS2 emphasizes stability; GTS3 adds a lateral center-of-gravity track to the shared hosel and dual-weight adjustment choices. The useful purchase is the head-and-shaft combination that improves your normal tee shots, at a complete price you are comfortable paying.

What the extra GTS3 adjustment buys you
Titleist’s GTS2 page and GTS3 page establish the adjustment difference. That gives the fitter another variable to investigate with GTS3. It does not establish that a player needs to use every adjustment, or that a neutral setting is an unfinished fitting.
A golfer who repeatedly finds one area of the face may have a different fitting question from someone whose contact covers a broad area. Ask the fitter to show your strike pattern before discussing the weight track. That keeps the conversation connected to your swing rather than the number of controls on the sole.
| Decision | GTS2 trial | GTS3 trial |
|---|---|---|
| Head choice | Establish a stable baseline | Check whether lateral adjustment adds a useful change |
| Shaft | Try a suitable standard option first | Compare a suitable equivalent before paying for an upgrade |
| Misses | Record ordinary heel and toe strikes | Check the same misses after setting changes |
| Order | Quote the exact finished club | Include every selected component and adjustment |
Separate head choice from shaft spending
Begin with an available standard shaft in an appropriate weight and flex. Then compare another shaft only if there is a clear question: contact, timing, feel or trajectory. An expensive shaft should earn its cost through the complete-club result. A stock option that you deliver well remains a valid final choice.
If the fitter changes the head, shaft and playing length simultaneously, that can still identify a better club. Ask for a short return to the earlier setup so you can understand which improvement is repeatable. Otherwise, a warm-up effect or a particularly good sequence of swings may get credited to the newest component.
Measure the result you actually need
Pick a target that resembles a normal driving hole. Compare useful carry, left-to-right spread and the short miss, not simply the longest shot. Save the complete shot groups. Identify obvious equipment misreads, but do not quietly discard every ordinary mishit from the club you want to buy.
Also compare what happens late in the session. A combination that is difficult to deliver when you are tired may be less useful across a full round than one that feels easier to repeat. Tell the fitter if you are tiring so the final decision is not based on unequal conditions.
Playing length should be written separately from shaft-model specifications. Our driver-length guide explains those measurements. For the wider brand range, see our Titleist club guide.
Turn the winning trial into a US order
Request a written build sheet with head model, hand, loft setting, playing length, shaft model and flex, grip and weight positions. Have the retailer identify which components carry an extra charge. Compare the full total with tax, shipping and any fitting fee, rather than comparing the two advertised starting prices.
Confirm lead time for that exact build and whether its return terms differ from a stock club. Before collecting it, compare the assembled club with the build sheet. Keep the trial report so a later adjustment begins from a known setup rather than memory.

Order when one combination solves an identifiable tee-shot problem. If the two are effectively tied in your session, comfort, price and access to later fitting support are reasonable deciding factors. More adjustment is valuable when it helps your fit; it is not a reason to replace a result you already like.
