A fair comparison of iron sets under £500 starts with the same number of assembled clubs. A six-iron set, seven-iron set and a collection of heads can all appear in the same search results at very different prices.

Compare seven clubs with seven clubs
The Ram 4-PW listing supplies seven assembled steel irons. Its separate custom-build and head-only links are different order routes. A gap wedge appearing in the manufacturer’s specification chart does not mean it is included in a set labelled 4-PW.
The MACSPD stock listing offers 5-PW and 4-PW selectors, with KBS Max Steel shafts. The displayed price range does not identify the final price of every selected combination. Obtain the seven-club total before subtracting it from the Ram price; comparing a range minimum with a different count would give a misleading saving.
Read the lofts before judging distance
Both checked charts put the seven-iron at 30° and the pitching wedge at 44°. Those are useful comparison points, but matching loft numbers does not make the clubs identical. Shaft, length, head design and your strike still affect the result.
During a fitting, compare carry, height, stopping behaviour and the spread of misses. Do not choose a set only because its seven-iron goes farther than your existing one. You also need useful gaps between clubs and a longest iron that produces a shot you can repeat.
Check the cost of completing the bag
List the clubs you will retain on either side of the new set. If the pitching wedge creates a large gap to your existing sand wedge, include the cost of resolving that gap in the budget. At the long end, an iron included in the box is not good value if you immediately replace it with a hybrid.
