Golf Drivers Under £300 in the UK: New Club Options to Check

Two new-driver routes worth checking below a £300 product budget are MacGregor’s MacTec X stock build and Tourney MAX made-to-order build. They are a focused starting shortlist, not a claim to rank every driver sold in Britain.

The prices below are the supplier’s displayed figures checked on 13 September 2026. Confirm the selected club, delivery charge and build options before treating either as a final delivered quote.

Make sure the listing is a complete driver

The MacTec X stock listing is separate from its head-only page. It lists 9°, 10.5° and 12° loft options and includes a headcover. A cheaper head-only search result is not the same purchase: a shaft, grip and assembly still need to be accounted for.

The Tourney MAX page provides a made-to-order route with an adjustable adapter and both handedness selectors. Its selected build can change the cost. Obtain a written specification before comparing that price with a ready-assembled stock club.

Choose the flight problem you want to solve

Use your current driver as the reference. Are the usual misses short carries, an uncomfortable launch window or shots finishing too far to one side? Write down the problem in ordinary terms before a fitting. A “MAX” model name and a carbon crown do not establish which club will improve that result for you.

Our driver fitting and selection guide explains how loft, length and shaft choice enter the decision. Hit the candidate and your current club with comparable balls and conditions. Look at normal shots and misses, rather than selecting the longest single strike as the winner.

Leave room in the budget for the right specification

Do not spend the whole £300 simply because it is available. A lower product price can leave room for a fitting or a specification change that you actually need. Equally, do not order an unsuitable flex just to keep a discount: the handedness, loft and shaft combination must be the one you can use.

Ask whether the quoted club is standard length, which shaft and grip are included, and what happens to the price when those choices change. If you already know a fitted specification, compare the complete order against it. Height-based length suggestions alone are not a substitute for a fitting.

Check timing and return terms before a custom order

The Tourney MAX page gives inconsistent assembly periods in different sections. Request the current build and dispatch estimate rather than relying on either figure for an imminent trip. A shipping-service name also does not establish when assembly will finish.

For either route, read the seller’s current terms for the exact purchase, particularly if it will be customised. Keep the confirmation showing the selected specification. This article does not promise that an outdoor trial is permitted or that a personalised build can be returned under ordinary change-of-mind terms.

Compare a used alternative only as a separate option

Our second-hand golf club guide is useful if you want to investigate older premium models within the same budget. Keep that comparison separate from the new-club shortlist: condition, shaft specification, accessories and seller support all need their own checks.

Start with MacTec X when a stock specification meets your fitting needs. Investigate Tourney MAX when a made-to-order configuration is the attraction. The final choice should follow the measured result and complete price, not an assumption that spending closer to £300 guarantees a better driver.
