Waterproof Phone Pouch for Golf: UK Rain Protection and Fit

A useful golf phone pouch must fit the phone with its normal case, seal correctly and let you perform the tasks you need in rain. Choose by the exact pouch rating and usable dimensions, then test access and carrying position before trusting it with a round’s GPS or scoring.

Two Aquapac sizes with specific measurements

The Aquapac Plus/Medium specification lists IPX8 protection to its stated ten-metre test depth and a maximum phone height of 163mm with 100mm combined width and depth. The Mini109 specification gives 155mm height and 75mm combined width and depth. These are product-specific dimensions; “fits a large phone” is a less useful description.

Measure the phone with its bumper or protective case attached. Width plus depth is not the same as width alone. Include protruding corners and ensure the closure can shut without forcing the device against it. If your phone is close to a limit, ask the manufacturer about the exact model and case combination rather than relying on an old compatibility list.

Two documented pouch sizes
Pouch Maximum height Maximum width plus depth Published water rating
Aquapac Mini109 155mm 75mm IPX8, manufacturer states 10m
Aquapac Plus/Medium 163mm 100mm IPX8, manufacturer states 10m

Read the rating as a condition, not a guarantee against misuse

The stated depth belongs to the named case under its specified conditions. It does not promise protection when a clasp is partly open, material is damaged or dirt prevents a correct seal. Follow the Aquapac product-care and sealing instructions supplied for the exact pouch, including its prescribed inspection and test process before inserting valuables.

A golfing use case is usually rain and wet handling rather than deliberate submersion. There is no need to recreate a depth test with your phone. Check the closure somewhere dry, and keep grit and grass away from the sealing area. A pouch that is awkward to reseal can become less useful if you repeatedly open it during play.

Unlocking is the practical limitation to test

Aquapac says fingerprint recognition does not work through these cases and face recognition may not work on many phones. Practise unlocking with the alternative method you will use. Confirm that you can reach the GPS yardage screen, add a score and answer a call without removing the phone.

Try with your usual glove and with the outside of the pouch in realistic damp conditions, using the maker’s testing instructions. We have not tested a specific touchscreen through the material, so do not assume every gesture works as well as on a bare phone. The golf-GPS app guide covers the separate app choice; waterproof protection does not establish software compatibility or course coverage.

Choose where the pouch will live

Place it where it is easy to retrieve but does not swing into the club, restrict movement or snag when you bend. Check the supplied lanyard and attachment instructions. A loose pouch around the neck may be inconvenient during a golf swing, even if that carrying method is useful for another activity.

If you intend to use a trolley cradle, check the pouch and closure fit the holder without being pinched or stretched. A clamp sized for a bare phone may not accommodate the waterproof case. Our trolley phone-holder guide addresses that mechanical fit; the holder’s grip does not increase the pouch’s waterproof rating.

Keep battery and opening routines realistic

Start the round with enough phone charge for the tasks you expect. Do not leave a charging cable emerging through a sealed closure unless the exact product is designed for that arrangement. Plan to make any necessary connection in a suitable dry place following the phone’s instructions.

If rain stops, you can keep using the pouch rather than repeatedly removing and reinserting the phone. When opening it, dry the exterior as directed and prevent surface water running onto the device. Inspect the material, seams and closure after use and replace or seek support for damage. Do not treat a manufacturer’s case warranty as automatic insurance for the phone inside.

Buy size and usability together

Choose the smallest suitable case that closes freely and lets you perform the tasks you need. A larger pouch may fit a bumper better but be less comfortable in a pocket or holder. The searches below identify the actual product family; match its size and model code rather than buying from a generic waterproof label.
