The Garmin Approach R10 suits a golfer who wants portable practice feedback and can provide the radar space behind the ball. Before comparing software packages, measure the hitting position: Garmin specifies 6–8 feet behind the tee and at least 8 feet from ball to net indoors.
Those measurements are the first buying filter. A small device does not necessarily fit a short room. The second filter is your intended decision: tracking repeatable practice sessions is different from expecting every displayed number to be an independently measured fitting result.

Mark the tee, monitor position and target line on the floor. Then check your full swing with the longest club you intend to use and account for the net maker’s rear clearance. A room can satisfy the straight-line radar distances yet still be unsuitable because of its ceiling, side walls or a projecting light fitting.
Treat mat height as part of alignment

A carry figure shown while hitting into a nearby net necessarily represents a projected full flight; the device has not watched the ball land at that yardage.
Do not treat a long metric list as proof that each entry is captured independently in the same way. Consider the ball as one controlled part of the setup. Use the same type during comparison sessions and record a change when you switch. Buying specialist balls before resolving inadequate room depth or inconsistent alignment leaves the underlying setup problem unanswered. No particular ball turns an unsuitable room into a suitable one.
Build a practice session around one question
For example, compare a small group of normal seven-iron shots with another group after a specific coaching instruction. Keep the ball, target and environment consistent. Look at the spread of results and contact quality rather than selecting the longest shot as your new stock distance.

Choose the R10 when its repeatable radar layout and app workflow fit your routine. If you cannot preserve the required depth, resolve the room plan first or compare a different capture arrangement. The most useful monitor is the one you can position correctly and use consistently, with data that answers your actual practice question.
