For a Clicgear trolley, put the model number ahead of the accessory list. The Model 4.5 changes the umbrella mounting thread, while the official support library separates 4.0, 8.0/8.0+ and older families. A part described simply as fitting Clicgear can therefore be the wrong purchase.

The 4.5 accessory thread is a real buying boundary
Clicgear expressly warns that legacy accessories using the umbrella-holder screw thread are incompatible with the Model 4.5’s updated metric thread. This is more useful than a general claim that the trolley accepts many accessories. If you already own a holder or extension, establish its fitting before counting it as part of the new setup.
Do not force a nearly matching thread or assume that every attachment has changed. A screw-in umbrella fitting and an accessory clipped to a separate mounting tab are different interfaces. Ask for the compatibility of the particular item you intend to keep, using its name or part number.
Assess the revised console without buying it for the labels
The 4.5 page documents a revised console, storage arrangements and an internally routed brake cable. These features may make small items easier to organise, but their value depends on what you carry. Place your phone, scorecard and usual bottle in the intended positions during a demonstration.
Check that lids, holders and the bag’s top pockets can still be reached once the straps are secured. A larger console is not automatically useful if it blocks the pocket you open most often. Keep charging-cord access separate from a claim that the trolley supplies electrical charging; the named feature does not establish an included power source.
Learn the exact folding sequence
Clicgear’s support library supplies separate folding resources for its different model families. Use the document for the trolley being offered and practise the sequence yourself. Pay attention to wheel orientation, frame locks and where accessories must sit before closing; do not use force to compensate for a missed step.
For Model 4.5, the checked US product page gives two slightly different folded-height figures in different sections. We have not selected one as a guaranteed measurement. Ask for the actual transport dimensions of the supplied version and test the boot opening with your bag still included in the load.
Treat brake adjustment as model-specific maintenance
The official library identifies brake adjustments, cables and related assemblies by model. That is a good route for identifying an issue, but the existence of a repair video does not prove that an unfamiliar part should be dismantled immediately. Start by identifying the trolley, the symptom and the correct instruction.
During a used-trolley viewing, engage and release the brake as intended and ask the seller to explain any stiffness, frayed cable or inconsistent holding. A parking control that looks present is not a successful functional check. Obtain the right repair estimate before buying a trolley described as needing only a quick adjustment.
Check bag support and regional supply together
The Model 4.5 lists an adjustable upper saddle and silicone bag restraints. Fit your actual bag, including any stand mechanism, and check its lower clearance while steering. Broad compatibility language does not replace seeing how a short base, large pocket or stand projection sits against the frame.
The linked US store states that it ships within the United States, so use it for specification research and obtain a UK offer from an appropriate seller. Confirm the generation, supplied holders and warranty terms in that offer. A complete, documented older Clicgear can be more useful than a newer frame whose accessories and service arrangements have been assumed.
